Today in Creating a Life in Music, we shared our rough draft portfolios for everyone to dig, get feedback, lean from others, etc.
I have an professional bio written and a "Fun/informal" bio as well. I wrote the bio a long time ago. Ok, no big deal, but I got a kick out of how one person just that my fun bio was hilarious. I really didn't remember what I wrote, so I just fluffed it off. Then everyone else started laughing when they read it, some even outloud. Heck one classmate said even said "Have you thought about being a stand up comic."
HA... I laughed at that, but apparently I learned a have a bit of a dry sense of humor. I eventually re-read my fun bio, I will admit, it is pretty darn funny. I even chuckled re-reading what I wrote a few months back, anyways, I just want to share this with you. Hopefully you can get a chuckle and go "ha ha" but if you start crying from laughing so hard, you are in need of some "really funny" entertainment... seriously...
Daniel Heier grew up on a farm in Roscoe, South Dakota. He began playing drums to his most dedicated fans, a herd of 200 cattle, on a daily basis. Fortunately, the cattle did not know he was playing calf-skin drumheads. Heier then moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota with his family in 2003. He lost his fan base after he started playing music without a cowbell. He enrolled at South Dakota State University where he studied drums and every episode of the first three seasons of The Simpsons. Heier performed dixieland music on the side. Heier then transferred to McNally Smith College of Music to earn a Bachelor Degree in Percussion Performance. He is a prolific composer of instrumentals no one has ever heard of and spends his time practicing the samba beat heard in the hallways at school. He continues to kick the drums with his foot because jazz legend Jimmy Heath once told him to "Keep Kickin' It!"
