I go to Wally World today (aka Walmart) to pick up a couple of school supplies, grociers etc. I decided to go and check out the music section. There cd collection is quite limited, but what is available is normally best sellers. So this is normally my way to see what is new in the "pop" world. Some of it is good, other stuff like Britney Spears, Hannah Montana, Jessica Simpson, Jonas Brothers, New Kids on The Block, etc can really just go in the garbage can for me. To me it is not music or an artists statement.
Anyways, back to the original intent of the blog. I See Journey has a new disc out called "Revolution." It is a 2 cd plus 1 dvd set. It was only $11.88 for 3 discs! Being a huge fan of Journey, I didn't think twice before it was in my cart. One cd was 11 new songs, the other was old hits re-recorded. I must admit, their new singer Arnel Pineda sounds great. However his stage presense is a bit overkill for me. But he is pretty darn good find considering he was found via You Tube.
The second song on the DVD is "Wheel in the Sky." Props to Journey for changing it up from the original arrangement. They took liberty's and Neal Schon didn't copy the exact guitar solo as he does on the original recording. When I saw him, he often would play the song verbatim.
Deen Castronovo just kills it on drums! He stays true to Steve Smith's parts with Journey, but he adds his own color and flare to the songs. Great drumming and singing!
Journey still rocks it, they are and always will be one of my favorite rock bands!
