Today as I was watching Dr. Oz on my day off, he brought up an interesting topic regarding hearing loss. As a drummer this is very important news and something we should pay attention to. Even without music we expose ourselves to very loud instances all the time. Everyone has an mp3 player and according to Dr. Oz, when listening to a mp3 player the average decibel rate is 115. No anything around 80 decibels and higher can cause hearing damage. Can you imagine how loud a snare drum is or crash cymbal! Below I have posted a video by Dr. Oz on cleaning your ears, a link to Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) to learn more about and a link to some great headphones to use while drumming.
