Dig this information. The term Beatlemania first occured in 1963. "Beatlemania" was used in the United States in 1964 once they performed on the Ed Sullivan Show. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assinated 11 weeks before the Beatles arrived in the United States. This was a tramatic time in peoples lives. Talk to anyone who was alive at that moment and I bet they can tell you exactly where they were at that very specific moment.
Music can often be used as escapism, a way to escape from reality, or perhaps make reality bearable again. Could the Beatles visiting the US been a source of escapism and perhaps a strong reason why they were so loved and eventually the leaders of pop culture. Girls craze over them and guys grow mop tops. The Beatles were already on their way to fame, but perhaps a need of escapism was needed for the youth and The Beatles provided exactly that.
